At Living Waters Counseling, we use specialized therapy techniques to help clients heal from deep-seated emotional wounds.  Those techniques include:
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): This evidence-based approach is highly effective in treating trauma, PTSD, and dissociation. EMDR helps process distressing memories, so they no longer feel overwhelming, allowing clients to move forward with a sense of peace.

  • ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy):This treatment is a  trauma‑focused, evidence‑based approach that helps people reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories. ART uses a combination of relaxation strategies and guided visualization to help clients process difficult experiences in a way that feels more manageable and less overwhelming.

  • Brain Spotting: This is a trauma‑processing therapy that uses focused attention and eye position to help clients access and resolve emotional material stored in the deeper regions of the brain. The idea is that where you look can influence how you feel, and certain eye positions — “brainspots” — correspond to areas of unresolved activation in the nervous system.

  • Hypnotherapy: A powerful tool for addressing subconscious fears, habits, and trauma responses. Through guided relaxation and focused attention, hypnotherapy helps clients access deeper healing and break free from limiting patterns. Hypnotherapy has been used in mental health therapy for over a hundred years.

  • Virtual Reality Therapy: This is a form of exposure‑based treatment that uses immersive 3D environments to help clients safely engage with situations that trigger anxiety, trauma responses, or phobias. By placing clients in a controlled virtual setting, the therapist can guide them through graded exposure at a pace that feels manageable and supportive. (Coming Soon)

  • Ego State Therapy: This approach focuses on understanding and integrating different aspects of the self. Many individuals, especially those who have experienced trauma, develop distinct “ego states” or parts of their personality that hold painful memories or emotions. Ego State Therapy helps clients communicate with these parts, fostering internal harmony, healing past wounds, and promoting self-acceptance.

  • Transference Focused Psychotherapy(TFP): A structured approach designed to help individuals struggling with intense emotional and relational difficulties, particularly those with personality disorders. TFP focuses on exploring how past relationships influence current interactions, helping clients develop healthier relational patterns and emotional regulation.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: Rooted in the exploration of unconscious thoughts and past experiences, this therapy helps clients gain insight into deep-seated emotional conflicts. By uncovering and understanding hidden emotions, Psychodynamic Therapy allows individuals to process unresolved issues, break destructive patterns, and create lasting emotional change.

  • Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT): A highly effective, evidence-based approach that goes beyond traditional CBT techniques to target complex emotional and cognitive issues. By identifying and restructuring deeply ingrained thought patterns, Advanced CBT helps clients overcome anxiety, depression, and trauma-related distress while building stronger coping strategies for long-term emotional well-being.

  • Developmental Reenactment Trauma Therapy: This therapy was developed by Dr. Llewelyn for the treatment of complex trauma and Dissociative Identity Disorder. The therapy focused upon the stabilization phase of trauma/dissociation treatment and helps the person rework the early childhood social developmental stages using the relationship with others and the therapist. It is not a re-parenting methodology, but rather looks at the complex trauma reenactments that occur in relationships on an everyday basis.
