Daxton Johnson ACMHCHey there, I’m Daxton Johnson, an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah. I currently have two years of experience and am on track to receive my full counseling license in May 2026. I am also a National Certified Counselor. I’ve had the honor so far of helping dozens of people with their problems and mental health journeys. The clients that I work with suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, and Depressive Disorders. More specifically, I work with people who have suffered from various traumas like religious traumas, childhood abandonment, suffering the loss of a loved one, etc. And the anxieties and depressive episodes of general life issues and the accompanied feelings and thoughts of not being “good enough”. The main therapy styles that I practice are EMDR, and CBT therapy, though I am trained in other eclectic styles as well.
I’ve been told by many friends and clients that on first impressions I can appear to be “scary” or “intimidating” (probably because I’ve also been told I have a resting grumpy face). But I promise I am a goofy teddy bear at heart that simply wants to help people heal their traumas and overcome their fears. I am always open to receiving any client feedback to provide you with the best and personalized care that I possibly can. My approach to therapy is purposeful, yet friendly, conversational and at times joyfully laughable. I love dad-jokes and puns and believe laughter is a good part of healing. Outside of the therapy office, I spend my time with my wife, our firstborn infant, and our Shiba Inu dog. Otherwise, I’m enjoying a good cup of coffee with a good book, writing my own books, listening to a podcast, or watching the same show for the 100th time. I would love to work with you and show you that therapy can be a fun time while also learning how to heal, overcome and move forward in your life. Send me an email or leave me a voicemail and I’ll reach out to you as soon as I can. Lastly, you'll probably have noticed by looking through our website that I am of the Christian faith. However, as a working therapist, it is not my job nor my desire to "evangelize" during the therapy work. I will never force my personal beliefs onto you or into your therapy treatment. It will always be my aim and goal to treat all of my clients with an equal amount of care, respect, and unconditional regard. If you are seeking Christian Counseling or if you have concerns about this with your potential therapy treatment, I will genuinely encourage you to bring it up with me so that we can address any questions or concerns you might have. |
